Tap 2 Table

Setting Up a Tablet for Tap 2 Table

A one-time setup, per tablet — takes about two minutes.

iPad (Safari)

  1. Open tap2table.com in Safari specifically — this only works through Safari, not Chrome or another browser.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up), usually in the address bar.
  3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen."
  4. Confirm the name and tap Add.

The real Tap 2 Table icon should now appear on the home screen, and opening it should launch full-screen — no address bar, no Safari browser frame around it.

Android Tablet (Chrome)

  1. Open tap2table.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right.
  3. Tap "Install app" (or "Add to Home screen" on some versions).
  4. Confirm — Chrome may also show this as an automatic install banner.

If the icon looks blank, or it opens in a browser instead of full-screen

This almost always means the tablet cached an older version from before it was set up correctly. Clear it out and start fresh:

  1. Delete the existing home screen icon — press and hold it, then remove it.
  2. iPad: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data, search for "tap2table," and delete it. (Or "Clear History and Website Data" for a fully fresh start.)
  3. Fully close the browser — don't just leave it in the background.
  4. Reopen it, type the address in fresh (don't use a bookmark or history entry), let the page fully load, then add it to the home screen again.

If tapping Log In seems to do nothing — no error, page just resets

Check one specific setting first, since it explains this exactly: Settings → Safari → Advanced → JavaScript — make sure this is turned ON. With it off, the page still looks completely normal, but nothing on it actually works — not login, not any button. It's an easy setting to have off without realizing, and it's the single most common cause of this specific symptom.

Recommended for a dedicated POS tablet: lock it down

If this tablet's only job is running Tap 2 Table, it's worth using Guided Access — a free, built-in iPad feature that locks the tablet to a single app. No accidentally swiping away mid-order, no reaching the home screen without a passcode.

  1. Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access — turn it on and set a passcode.
  2. Open Tap 2 Table from the home screen icon.
  3. Triple-click the side (or top) button to start Guided Access.
  4. Triple-click again and enter the passcode any time you need to exit.

Android tablets have an equivalent built-in feature, usually called "Screen Pinning," found in Settings → Security (exact wording varies by manufacturer).
